Those of you who use the Twitter section on the front page probably noticed it suddenly stopped working. This is because Twitter has moved to a new Version of the API which caused the existing implementation to stop working. This new API requires authentication, so some additional steps are required to use this section.

We just pushed the update to ThemeForest so it should be available soon. Check your ThemeForest downloads tab and if you haven't already check the box that indicates notification of updates so you will be emailed. The newest version is 1.1.1 so you will need to download the latest version of the theme for this fix. Once you have 1.1.1 these are the steps needed to get the Twitter section working again:

1. Visit https://dev.twitter.com/apps and create an app. The name and other information is not important but it is required to receive the necessary authentication keys.

2. After you have created it, at the bottom of the app summary page is a link to create the access tokens. Click it.

3. Click on the OAuth tools tab at the top of the page and there you will find the 4 keys you will need to enter into the Twitter options in the Footer settings.

Once you enter and save those settings the Twitter section will function as it did before and you won't have to do anything else. If you are using the Twitter feed in a block region here is the new markup (make sure to use the PHP filter)

Code:
<div class='tweet query'></div>
<script type="text/javascript">

    jQuery(document).ready(function ($) {

      $(".tweet").tweet({
        modpath: '<?php global $root; echo $root;?>/includes/twitter/',
        username: "envato",
        avatar_size: 34,
        count: 3,
        loading_text: "loading tweets..."
      });

    });

  </script>

We apologize for this inconvenience but unfortunately these are now the steps necessary for the section to work. If you have any questions or issues please do not hesitate to reply. We're here to help.

Please help.

Hash tags on your Twitter front page item do NOT work.

For example when there is a tweet with "#Drupal", the link goes here.

http://search.twitter.com/search?q=&tag=drupal&lang=all

and you get...

The Twitter REST API v1 is no longer active. Please migrate to API v1.1.
https://dev.twitter.com/docs/api/1.1/overview"

Yes, I have done the updates as you mentioned in this post...still, "hashtags" do not work in your theme.

Please can you tell me the fix, because I'm going live with my new Haiku theme very very soon.

Thank you :)

Julz

Ok there is an update to the script which will be in the next update. If you want to apply it now you can copy the code from https://raw.github.com/StanScates/Tweet ... y.tweet.js and paste it over /includes/twitter/jquery.tweet.js and everything should work.

Hi trying to have twitter work on the site

I did not understand the comment below

3. Click on the OAuth tools tab at the top of the page and there you will find the 4 keys you will need to enter into the Twitter options in the Footer settings.

There is not Oauth tools tab on twitter app account and where to enter the 4 keys on twitter option in footer settings?

1. Sorry the layout of the twitter dev page has changed. There is a tab called "API Keys" under your application that has the keys. And regarding where you enter them there is a tab in the theme settings with text fields for each of the four keys.
